08 MarHave A Princess Tea Party

Here’s a great idea for your Sleeping Beauty Costume that all little girls love:  Have a dress-up princess tea party!

This is the perfect event for a young girl’s birthday party.  All the little girls come dressed as their favorite princess characters.  She can be a Disney princess, a fairy princess, or a magical princess from her own imagination.  All that’s needed is a lovely ball gown in their favorite color, a tiara, an magic wand or scepter, sparkly shoes, and of course, lots of gaudy jewelry!

Boys?

Boy siblings and classmates are welcome of course.  They can be kings, princes, superheros or knights in shining armour.  Just be sure to give them lots of space in their own corner, so they can fight their battles with balloon swords and wild shenanigans.

Party Favors

Party favors are so easy for the little princesses.  They love sparkly wands with ribbons and maribou feathers.  More jewelry is always appreciated, and are great to give out as prizes for games or fish pond.  Have extra tiaras on hand for those who may not have come with one, or want to trade up.

Craft Projects

Making crowns or wands or picture frames are a great craft project to keep them busy during the party.  Have lots of sparkly ribbons, stick-on-gems, stickers, stars, small feathers, glitter and sequins.  Non toxic glue, and adults to help the little ones.

Instant Photos and Printing

Take a digital picture of each child as they arrive, before they get all messed up or get tired of wearing their whole costume.  Then use your instant photo printer to print up their 4×6 photo.  Have cardboard photo frames ready for them to personalize and decorate.  Even popsicle sticks make cute photo frames.  Give their decorated photos to their parent as they are leaving.

Be sure t0 take a group picture the minute everyone has all arrived.  As you know,  torn dresses and meltdowns happen – so be quick!

Face Painting, Makeup, and Nails

As a special touch, you can have a face painter or makeup artist come to give the girls a touch of glamor and glitter to go with their fancy gowns.  Quick drying nail polish is also something that little girls adore.  As always, pictures of this special makeup is a treasured remembrance of childhood fun.

Tea Party Table

The tea party table is the most fun to assemble.  If the girls are older and fairly well behaved, you can use an eclectic assortment of beautiful dishes and tea cups.  Just a trip to a thrift store and Ross will net you a treasure trove of interesting tablewear.  The guests could even choose their favorite tea cup set to take home with them as a party favor.

If the girls are young and/or rowdy, just have cute paper or plastic tablewear in a princess theme – and they will love it.  Plastic tablecloths make clean up a snap.

Food?  They don’t really care.  The standards are the best – mini pizzas, mini hot dogs, chicken fingers, tiny peanut butter sandwiches.  Don’t even try to serve them traditional high tea sandwiches!  Just keep the food as ungreasy as possible, so they don’t ruin their pretty gowns.

Extra Clothes

It’s a good idea for all the kids to bring play clothes as a back up, in case they tire of being elegant ladies and gents.  After a while they are just ready to bounce in the jumping castle and be crazy kids.

Have a magical party and a magnificent day!
